A hero is…what? If a hero is a character or figure that represents the best of what a person should be, then is a hero something we create or something that is an embodiment of God’s intentions for us? If it is true that hero is an embodiment of God’s intentions for human beings, what happens when a culture rejects heroes?
On October 8-10, 2026, The CiRCE Institute will host a fall conference, featuring Jonathan Pageau of The Symbolic World, to discuss this very question. What is a world without heroes, and what are the effects of that on its people? Can we restore the glory that is a hero, that is an ideal type, through education and worship?
Since heroes have been an ever-present part of art, literature, and even history for most of humanity’s existence, it seems prudent to think about the presence and lack of heroes in our education and worship.
We need your insights and questions and we especially need your fellowship. Please join us as we contemplate together the heroic theme: “A World without Heroes: Restoring the Glory through Education and Worship.
Both Jonathan Pageau and Deacon Seraphim Rohlin will be speakers at this event.
