The Bible is filled with architectural imagery, from the garden temple of the creation to the city made holy by the temple in its midst to the church constructed of living stones to the New Jerusalem descending from heaven in the apocalypse.
Building is an archetype because it so permeates creation and all of our activities. We are constantly building, literally and metaphorically. In the world of education we strive to build communities, curricula, lessons, souls, plans, and even school buildings.
Surely there are analogies between literally building a house, a church, and a school that can help us understand how to build the multitude of other things that so naturally refer to this powerful metaphor. Perhaps they can even help us work in a manner consistent with how our Lord builds His church and a house for His Name.
In the 2025 CiRCE National conference we will explore what the wisdom of building offers us as we seek to participate in the work of wisdom while she builds her house with seven pillars.
